Flying Requirements

Any pilot who wishes to fly P1 at the VGC Rally at airfield spitzerberg must conform to the following requirements:

Documentation

The following documents should be available:

  • Proof of VGC membership
  • Proof of Glider Registration
  • Glider Insurance documentation
  • Austrian Certificate of Airworthiness , EASA ARC or Appropriate C of A
  • Pilots logbook
  • A Current Medical Certificate (Relative as to whether Solo or Instructing/Passenger Carrying will take place)
  • Pilots who wish to Instruct in their own two seaters should have a copy of their Instructing Qualification available
  • Pilots who wish to passenger carry should have a copy of a “Passenger carrying” endorsement from their Chief Flying Instructor Available

General Requirements

Pilots should comply with the following requirements:

  • For cross country flights the Austrian law requires an ELT
  • A hand held VHF is recommendable

The "Segelfliegergruppe Spitzerberg" will be happy to give check flights to those who are either not current or feel they need a check flight for whatever reason.

Segelfliegergruppe Spitzerberg Flying orders will be made available to all pilots.

Flying Annex II gliders at AIRFIELD Spitzerberg, Austria:

If your glider has an ICAO compliant CofA with no restrictions, no action is required. You will be able to fly in Austria.

If your glider has an ICAO compliant CofA with restrictions or if your glider does not have an ICAO compliant CofA (like all BGA registered Annex II gliders) you need approval to fly in Austria.

To achieve this approval, send a readable copy of your registration certificate, CofA, insurance and pilots licence to;

The paperwork should reach Andi by July 1st, 2011 at the latest. Andi will take care of the necessary approvals, which will then be ready upon your arrival.
